“Confusion Within”

a) What were you trying to express and how did you achieve this?

I was trying to express the confusion I felt when making light decisions that seem like they can make big differences. The colour makes it feel like the confusion is just on the surface its not deep, and that in all the different thicknesses of the colour I still have to like remember myself.

b) What Filters did you use and where?

First for the back ground I paintbucketed a layer then used the film grain filter to make it have a little rougher texture. Secondly I used different special brushes and liquified it to make those curling, swirling colourful lines to make it look confusing. I continued this with more colours. Then I used the paint daubs filter to make the bottom left corner picture of me look more softer and like its just a painting.

c) What layer blending mode did you use and where?

The layer blending modes I used in this assignment are luminosity, overlay and linear burn. I used the luminosity blending mode to make my bottom left corner picture more transparent or so that it looks like its almost blending into the background. I used the overlay blending mode to make the top right picture of my eyes stand out, so it can be seen through all the other colours. And finally I used the linear burn blending mode to make a layer with a special brush’s pattern darker just below the image of the eyes, so that it would fully look like the eyes were the only thing meant to be shown.

d) What special brush did you use and where?

I used all assorted paintbrushes from circle 1 to triangle dots to make different strokes and curves, which I later liquified to the present form. Particularly for the assorted paintbrush crosshatch 2, I used it for the dark blue stroke under the eyes. And finally for the assorted brush dashed circle 2, I used it to erase parts of my bottom left corner picture so that only the relevant parts of the picture are kept.
